Trainer/Founder: Heather Boade

When you work out with me, my approach is person-centered and non-judgemental. My goal for my clients is health, wellness, and longevity. Because I believe strongly in the scientific superiority of high-intensity functional training, that’s what most of the classes I program feature. It’s easily modified for anyone at any level, which is why so many different kinds of people work out here.

My philosophy is that fitness should be accessible and usable in your daily life. That idea started working as a certified occupational therapy assistant in the early 2000s, and then—after years of being a mom—got my ACE personal training certification in 2011. The combination of those professions has shown me that the kind of fitness assistance most people need should be targeted toward accomplishing the activities of everyday living. For over fifteen years, I’ve been providing exactly that.

My clients appreciate that I am gentle, inclusive, and safe while offering scalable workouts for everyone from absolute beginners to serious athletes.

More than one new member has commented that this gym feels different. It’s more fun and less intimidating than bigger fitness centers.

When I program classes, I’m asking questions like:

  • How does this apply to an average person?

  • Will this help people hang their bikes up in their garage, put away that giant bag of dog food, or get a child into their car seat?

  • What are the health benefits to multiple cardio bursts?

  • Which routines do we need to maintain strong backs for moving ourselves and our families through the world? How often should we do them?

  • Are we doing the exercises now that will enable us to continue to do all this and more in the coming years?

I want you to be able to participate in all your favorite things for as long as you can, so how about a few more burpees?

I saw the power of functional training in action in 2025 when I had breast cancer. My Stage 2 ER+/PR+ cancer was diagnosed early and treated with surgery and five weeks of radiation. I was reminded to continue exercising throughout radiation because it lessens the side effects of treatment. Post cancer, it took me a quick three to four months to recover. I attribute that resilience entirely to maintaining my fitness before and during my cancer treatment.

Functional Training (HIFT)

Functional Training (HIFT)

Our classes are based on a high-intensity functional training model (HIFT), which is the single most effective workout out there. Functional training incorporates the whole body across multiple planes of movement and often weaves in short cardio bursts.

Every workout is different, but all sessions incorporate full-body exercises like lunges or overhead press, which require you to recruit multiple muscle groups as you move. These moves and others like them rely on body-weight exercises or traditional weight-lifting techniques. Lasting about 30 to 40 minutes, these efficient exercise routines strengthen the musculoskeletal system and keep your body responsive and growing instead of stagnating from the same-old static movements. HIFT can be your only workout, or it can supplement and support the sport you already love.

Functional training can be adapted to any level or stage of fitness, so we meet you where you are and help you heal from injury, gain strength, or just maintain a strong, stable body as you age. Workouts are all adaptable to the individual; burpees are encouraged but not required.

The Co-op Community

The Co-op Community

Our vibe is welcoming and affirming. All ages and levels work out together to share in community, to support and challenge one another.

The Co-op is a place where people know your name and ask how you’re doing. It’s a community that creates opportunities to celebrate and support one another inside and outside the gym. This community pulls together when members need support, be that for a scary health diagnosis or a milestone birthday.

Members can pay a monthly fee for unlimited workouts, or on a session-by-session basis. Inquire for rates.
